My name is Jose, and I’ve tutored over 60 students in math ranging from K-6th grade, middle school, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, College Algebra, and SAT and ACT prep. I love teaching kids and my goal is to one day create a new Elementary School. I teach my students the same habits that I used to score a perfect 800 on the SAT Math section, and to rank 2nd in my high school class (salutatorian), so that they can form the right habits, get all A's, and get into any college they want.
My tutoring is all done online through a Microsoft Teams video call and only one on one with each student, so that each student has my full attention. Because I was ranked 2nd in my high school class, I know the habits that students need to get all A's and to get into any college that they want. Most tutors don't understand that it's all about learning the right habits, and they just teach students the material instead of teaching them the best way to learn. And most tutoring centers have tutors working with multiple students at once, so their attention is divided. I’ve personally worked at a tutoring center, where I would work with 2-4 students at a time. I’ve seen that my own students learn 3 times as much as the students I taught at the tutoring center, because they have my undivided attention one on one.
Most people don't realize that any student can have all A's, but the reason most students don't is because teachers in school teach all students at the same pace, but every student learns each lesson at a different pace, so they end up forming lots of gaps in their knowledge that accumulate over time. As the years go by, these gaps get wider and wider, but every lesson builds upon the previous lessons, so when students have lots of gaps in knowledge, they end up not being able to keep up with the new lessons at all.
I fill in those gaps in students' knowledge so that they have a solid foundation to build upon for every lesson moving forward. I also teach them how to not form any new gaps in their future learning, and I teach them the best study habits to get an A in every single test they take.
Elementary school especially is when students form the learning habits they use for the rest of their lives. If they learn the right habits early, they will take these habits with them through middle school, high school, and college, and they will have no trouble. My goal is to show every student that there is no limit to how far they can go. The only limits are the ones we put on ourselves.
The first one hour lesson is free. Afterwards the hourly rate depends on grade level and math class the student is taking. Students typically do 1-3 lessons per week, but you are free to book as many lessons as desired. Since the first lesson is free, you are able to see if my tutoring is right for your child, with no commitment necessary. I'm confident that you will be very satisfied with my tutoring!
